Here is another excellent video from Roy Two Thousand. This video showcases Bliss Dance by artist Marco Cochrane and the Bliss Dance Team. Bliss Dance is a figurative sculpture celebrating women’s empowerment, created for and first installed at Burning Man in 2010. This installation is on Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay and is a project of the Black Rock Arts Foundation for which I serve as president of the board of directors. Bliss Dance is the first work of art to be installed on Treasure Island since it was created in 1936 and 1937 for the Golden Gate International Exposition.

Spire of Fire in Reno, Nevada
June 26, 2011An Expedition over the Sierra revealed the Black Rock Arts Foundation Civic Arts Committee placed Spire of Fire next to the RiverWalk in downtown Reno. Spire of Fire, by local Reno artists Steve Atkins and Eric Smith, is BRAF’s fourth installation at the Foundation’s public art venue in Reno, Nevada. Black Rock Arts Foundation Advisory Board member Maria Partridge and Richard Johnson along with BRAF & Burner volunteers spearheaded a tremendous effort once again to bring Burning Man art & culture into the default world.
Burning Man Metropolis
June 20, 2011This VIMEO is by someone named Roy Two Thousand. Judging by this excellent video, Roy must be a fascinating fellow. I do not know Roy, but have experienced what you will see here. It is not for the faint of art.

ArtPad Art Motel at the Phoenix Hotel
May 24, 2011The Black Rock Arts Foundation (BRAF) was the beneficiary of an event opening night at the Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco. The event was sponsored by ARTMarket who produced satellite expositions called ArtPad. It sounds convoluted but this is what happens in the creative artworld. ARTMarket was a wonderful attempt to showcase local and regional artists, art galleries, museums and all of the collaborative support system that goes along with it – convention for artists in many ways.
I serve as the president of the board of directors for the Black Rock Arts Foundation which means I have the privilege to attend these events.Jonesy Jones is a BRAF volunteer who commandeered a krewe of five accomplices who proceeded to “wrap” the entire Phoenix Hotel room assigned to the Black Rock Arts Foundation to promote our services. The “wrap” was a roll of butcher paper that adorned everything from the beds, chairs, lamps, kleenex box, bathroom towels, hair dryer, toilet paper, and all of the walls. Crayons and magic markers were spread around the room so attendees over three days could art up the room as they wished. Community based, interactive art is incorporated in the Mission of the Black Rock Arts Foundation. This video is the result of the three days of arting up. It was shot minutes before the room was “unwrapped”.
The San Francisco Pianobike
May 3, 2011I work in San Francisco’s Dogpatch where the sun shines frequently and the Hell’s Angel’s roar up and down the street going to and from their headquarters. The office and printing plant that I work out of is the former showroom for Esprit Clothing. The neighborhood is famous for several things one of which is across the street where Behind the Green Door was filmed with Marilyn Chambers. Next door to the printing plant is a live/work building filled with artists. On Friday nights, they often have Open Studios. One particular friday night, one of the live/work artists, St. Frankenstein, was sitting in front of the building playing his Pianobike. It is a home built, DIY, contraption that sounds marvelous as you will hear in this video. Boogie away brother… you can learn more about St. Frankenstein by clicking HERE

Artists Extraordinnaire
September 17, 2010Dr. Core and Dr. Cat are extraordinarily talented artists. Their gifts have been applied to Burning Man, the Black Rock Arts Foundation, the Oregon Country Fair and myriad other worthy endeavors. This short video was shot of them at Center Camp in 2010 in front of one of their paintings they created there.
Not the Fourth of July!
