Huracan- recreation of the God of Fierce Wind from the Mayan Culture:
Huracan once again provided the transportation during the annual intrepid Expedition beyond the default world. Art unfolded at every twist and turn as the Mind Shaft Society explored the nuances among the dust particles. Embarkation was at the Bureau of Artistic Development where Creative License was granted. Debarkation was at the Trauma Unit, our minds and bodies having been fully blown.
The Golden Gate was first discovered by non natives in the 1700s. Over the following decades ships wrecked on the rocks at the water’s edge. The area on the south side of the Golden Gate is known as Lands End. A 36 foot sailboat with a husband and wife aboard, ran into the rocks in a gale wind on May 24, 2010. This video was shot on May 25 searching for the boat which I did not find. The husband and wife washed up on Ocean Beach 1.5 miles south and west. They had drowned.
Make Magazine produces Maker Faires throughout the United States. Ground Zero is in Silicon Valley where the event occurs over three days each spring at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds in the northern Silicon Valley. The following video is an Expedition by the Mind Shaft Society to research technology to apply to the Pataphysical Slot Machine.
The Intrepid Traveler, Ken Babbs, also known as Kapn’Ken, also known as the SkyPilot, also known as Isaac, Simon, Eli, Elizabeth and about six other kids Dad, sent communique from somewhere in Oregon. I am not quite sure what it’s about but here it is… let me know if you figure it out. But remember, never trust a Merry Prankster.
The Pataphysical Slot Machine is a conceptual, hallucinatory work of art conceived by Dr. Rheinbrain, Dr. Fabio and Dr. Really?, senior anthropologists at the Mind Shaft Society. The Pataphysical Slot Machine’s working title is called the Wonderbox. This video describes the fabrication process of the mock-up before actual construction commences.
Today was a fine spring day providing the opportunity to travel to Drennon Ranch in West Marin County’s Halleck Valley. Three little pigs are new additions thanks to Dr. Laura who nurtures a bevy of animals among an art collection of Burning Man creations. Drennon Ranch is where Huracan, the God of Fierce Wind, hibernates awaiting the next big Expedition, to Black Rock City.
Remember when we young, and someone would say let’s create a circus in the backyard. As adults, we are fortunate when friends open their studios, homes and backyards to accommodate our mutual artistic explorations. Jeff and Laura are those kind of friends. They facilitated Fire in the Valley, a testimonial to the art of fire, in their backyard. Thank you Jeff and Laura.
An 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Santiago, Chile early on February 27, 2010. About eight hours later the Pacific arena was on tsunami watch. The tsunami turned into a TsuNOTmi at San Francisco’s Lands End.
